A driver in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Aroostook County was seriously injured.

The Maine Department of Public Safety says 35-year-old Curtis Deschaine of Wallagrass lost control of his vehicle on Caribou Road in Cross Lake around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicle rolled over multiple times before coming to a rest on its roof in an embankment.

A preliminary investigation found Deschaine may have been driving too fast in the rain and hydroplaned.

Deschaine was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent by ambulance and later life flighted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was in serious but stable condition on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.
