A critical care nurse who formerly worked at two Maine hospitals has pleaded guilty to felony misuse of entrusted property Friday.

According to our info partners at CBS 13, Amy McLellan of Brunswick was indicted in August of 2018 on two class B felonies, after she bilked an elderly couple out of $274,000 to finance a boutique senior housing complex. Brunswick Police were tipped off back in October of 2017 after an employee reported evidence of financial irregularities to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Persecutors said, McLellan ultimately convinced an 89-year-old man to turn-over his savings to allow her to finance the assisted living complex. Last week, McLellan paid the remainder of her $100,000 restitution payments owed to the victims, and a plea agreement was reached, which calls for McLellan to serve 2 days in jail and a year probation.
