Maine observes Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Maine is observing Indigenous Peoples’ Day with a number of events taking place around the state.

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine in Portland will unveil a new outdoor exhibit paying tribute to the traditions of the Wabanaki people.

The Portland Museum of Art will have special exhibits and admission will be free.

The South Portland Human Rights Commission will hold an Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration at the Redbank Community Center.

The Wabanaki Alliance is holding a rally in Augusta. They’re urging Mainers to vote “yes” on Question 6 next month.

Schools and government buildings are closed in observance of the holiday.
