Maine police department temporarily closes due to shortage of officers

DIXFIELD (WGME) — The Dixfield Police Department will be closed due to a shortage of officers.

The departments only full-time employee will be laid off, and their duties will be fulfilled by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office for the next 180 days.

Dixfield residents are encouraged to call 911 if there’s an emergency, or Oxford County’s dispatch at 1-800-733-1421 for service.
