BATH, Maine (AP) Police in Bath say they’re investigating whether a confrontation between a pickup truck driver and a group of Black Lives Matter demonstrators constituted a hit-and-run.

Police said Tuesday the confrontation happened on June 11 when a group of 20 to 30 demonstrators was protesting peacefully near an intersection in Bath.

They say an 83-year-old man driving a red pickup truck approached the intersection and stopped in the midst of the demonstrators. Police say the driver proceeded slowly through the intersection while protesters banged on his truck to get him to stop.

They say protesters reported the incident as a hit-and-run, and there were no injuries.
