Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services has been awarded more than $32 million to address coronavirus-related health disparities.
The U.S. CDC gave Maine the award as part of a $2.25 billion nationwide investment.
The U.S. DHHS says the money is intended to reduce health disparities when it comes to COVID-19, bolster testing and contact tracing among more vulnerable people like ethnic and minority groups and people living in rural communities.
It’s also being provided to improve overall services to prevent and control coronavirus infections.
The initiative is funded through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act 2021.
