Governor Janet Mills has removed Massachusetts from the list of states whose visitors do not have to quarantine or receive a negative coronavirus test result upon entering Maine.

The change is effective on Monday.

It requires Massachusetts visitors to quarantine for two weeks after arriving in Maine or receive a negative test within 72 hours of their arrival.

The governor’s office says the decision was made as cases rise in Massachusetts, where the positivity rate reached 2.5%. Maine’s rate is about 1.8%.
