Maine teen accused in killing of paddleboarder to appear in court

A teenager accused of killing a paddleboarder at Crawford Pond in Union last summer is in court Thursday.

Deven Young was 17 years old at the time, and is charged with the murder of Sunshine Sunny Stewart, who died from strangulation and blunt force trauma.

Stewart’s body was found a day after she disappeared while paddle boarding.

Prosecutors are now seeking to try Young as an adult.

No motive for the killing has been released.

Young was scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 4 p.m.
