AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) The Maine Department of Labor says the state’s unemployment rate for September is unchanged from August at 2.9%.

The rate is down from 3.5% from a year ago.

Maine’s unemployment rate has been below 4% for 45 consecutive months, the longest period on record in the state.

New England’s rate was 3% for September. The rates were 2.2% in Vermont, 2.5% in New Hampshire, 2.9% in Massachusetts, and 3.6% in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
