Maine’s Department of Education says it will be working with schools to administer standardized testing this year.

Federal waivers allowed schools to skip the tests last spring at the start of the pandemic, but the Biden administration says there will be no “blanket waivers” of testing requirements this year. It says it will work with states to allow for more flexibility in doing things like moving testing to the summer or fall.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the state’s education department plans on advising schools to administer tests when it is “feasible and safe” and will be working with districts directly.
