A Wells woman was killed during a weekend that saw an usually high number of snowmobile crashes in the state.
The Maine Warden Service says 50-year-old Tanya Hanson was killed in northern Somerset County. She was operating a snowmobile on ITS 85 when she failed to negotiate a turn and ended up crashing into trees on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency personnel arrived to perform CPR but were unsuccessful.
The crash remains under investigation.
Another snowmobiler was hospitalized after crashing into a house in New Gloucester on Sunday afternoon. That crash was also under investigation on Monday.
