Maine Woman Wins 2nd World Paracycling Title

Clara Brown - USA Cycling

Clara Brown of Falmouth now has a second world title after winning the women’s C3 road race Sunday at the UCI Paracycling Road World Championships in Belgium.

Brown captured gold on the final day of this year’s UCI Championships.

The win marks Brown’s first world title in a road race and her second overall, after winning a time trial title in 2022.

Brown was a competitive gymnast, runner, and skier before injuring her spinal cord at age 12.

She became a competitive cyclist after graduating from college.

Brown was excited while speaking to USA Cycling.  “It’s hard to find words,” said Brown. “I’m just really proud of that ride and so excited to be in stripes next year. This is the combination of a lot of work, and after a mishap in the time trial, it felt really special to have that redemption today.”

Brown is now 30 years old.
