AUGUSTA, Maine (AP)  The Maine Senate has confirmed a new director of the Maine State Housing Authority that serves more than 90,000 people in the state.

Dan Brennan previously served as MaineHousing’s senior director of programs before his nomination by Republican Gov. Paul LePage.

The Senate confirmed Brennan unanimously on Thursday.

MaineHousing had been without a director since John Gallagher retired in January. Deputy Director Peter Merrill stepped in to fill the role on a temporary basis.

MaineHousing describes itself as a “$1.7 billion financial institution” that benefits low- and moderate-income people in the state.
