JAY, Maine (WGAN) A maintenance supervisor credited with saving the lives of workers in a building moments before it was destroyed in a propane blast will be returning home after 7 months.

Larry Lord will be sent back to his home in Jay on Friday, according to the Bangor Daily News. He had been hospitalized at Mass General Hospital in Boston for 5 months, and was then transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown.

The blast at the LEAP Inc. building in Farmington on September 16th, 2019 injured several firefighters and killed one, Fire Captain Michael Bell. All those who were injured have since been released from the hospital.

Lord was able to evacuate everyone from the building after he smelled propane in the basement that morning.

In a statement, Lord’s wife said he still has a long road to recovery ahead, but she’s happy he will be back with the family.
