A 28-year-old Warren man faces numerous charges after Androscoggin County deputies say he crashed in a stolen vehicle in Poland Tuesday morning.

They say a black SUV traveling northbound on Maine Street (Route 26) at a high rate of speed failed to pull over for a traffic stop and sped away.

Deputies say the driver traveled down several roads and lost control of the vehicle in the area of 106 Poland Corner Road, hitting and breaking a utility pole before coming to rest in a wooded area.

They say driver fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area but was quickly caught, and was identified as Isaiah Strong-Gassama.

Strong-Gassama was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with minor injuries. The vehicle he was operating was later determined to have been stolen from a local car dealership.

Following treatment, Strong-Gassama was booked at the Androscoggin County on six charges including felony theft. No other injuries were reported.
