BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) A Bangor man is under arrest after police say they found drugs during a probation check.
Police say Thursday afternoon, two officers were sent to Kareen Barker’s hom eon Crestmont to conduct a probation check. Police say Barker was on probation for a 2015 aggravated assault conviction in Androscoggin County. Police say they had also received reports that Barker was involved in illegal drug activity.
Police say Barker was initially cooperative with them, but that changed when officers asked to see his room.
Police say Barker tried to show them a different room, but they were not fooled. When they went into his bedroom and began to search, police say Barker tried to run when some drugs were found.
A struggle ensued and police eventually were able to handcuff Barker.
Police say they seized 15 grams of crack cocaine, 24 grams of heroin and two grams of methamphetamine, along with $1,872 in suspected drug proceeds.
Because of the amount of drugs and a prior drug conviction in New York state, police say Barker was charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking, one count of illegal possession, refusing to submit to arrest, falsifying physical evident and violation of probation.
Police say Barker was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
