Man Arrested for Stabbing in Belmont


BELMONT, Maine (WGAN)  The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been arrested after a stabbing in Belmont last week.

The sheriff’s office says they responded to reported stabbing Friday afternoon on Lincolnville Road.

Police say the 64-year-old male victim told them he had gotten into an argument with 25-year-old Jetton Whiting, who was also living in the home, when Whiting became upset and stabbed him multiple times.

Deputies searched for Whiting, eventually finding him in an abandoned home in Belmont on Saturday, Jan. 6.  Whiting was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.

He’s being held without bail.
