Man Arrested for Threatening Senator Collins

A New York man is under arrest for threatening to kill U.S. Senator Susan Collins.

74-year-old Ronald DeRisi of Smithtown, New York was arrested Friday. According to our info partners at CBS 13 News, DeRisi had left threatening voice mail messages for Senator Collins and her Republican colleague, Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

DeRisi was trying to convince the senators to vote against the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. He was identified as the suspect through voice recordings and telephone records.
