AUBURN, Maine (AP) A man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man outside an apartment building in Auburn.

Bryan W. Peabody, 25, of Auburn was arrested Thursday evening after family members took him to the Auburn police station for questioning.

The victim, Lawrence Kilkenny, 48, of Lewiston was found seriously hurt Wednesday night by emergency medical technicians.

He died later at Central Maine Medical Center.

Police declined to discuss motive, but friends say the killing may have been prompted by a dispute over a woman, the Sun Journal reported.
