Man charged with arson in connection with vehicle fire in downtown Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Bangor police say a man is accused of setting fire to a vehicle on Tuesday morning.

Lt. Brent Beaulieu says police and firefighters responded to a report of a parked vehicle on fire in Kenduskeag Plaza around 10:10 a.m.

Officers spoke with 37-year-old Thomas Daries, who was nearby at the time. Following an investigation, Daries, who has no permanent address, was arrested and charged with arson and possession of scheduled drugs. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office was at the scene to help in the investigation.

No other information was available Tuesday afternoon.
