A Portland man is charged with murder following the death of a man over the weekend.

Police were called to Forest Ave. near the YMCA following reports of an assault Friday night.

When they arrived, police say they found David Hannauer, 60, unconscious and suffering from serious injuries.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Hannauer, was transported to Maine Medical Center, where he died Saturday afternoon.

A news release from the police department did not say how the man was killed, and police would not answer questions about the death.

Police say 49-year-old Robert Lancaster was arrested and is being held without bail in the Cumberland County Jail.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed something that night to give them a call.
