A Connecticut man died after he was thrown from a raft on a Maine river.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says it happened around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday on Dead River near The Forks.

Officials say family and friends were paddling on the raft operated by Magic Falls Rafting Company. Everyone was thrown into the water after the raft hit a rapid.

Everyone was rescued by other rafts in the area, but 57-year-old Brian Breen was unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.

His cause of death has not been determined.
