A man from Oxford County was taken to the hospital after an officer involved shooting on Thursday.

Mexico and Rumford police responded just before 11 p.m. to a domestic violence disturbance on Roxbury Road in Mexico.

When officers arrived, police say they were confronted by an armed man, 22-year-old Daniel Tibbetts.

Mexico police officer Dustin Broughton fired at Tibbetts, who was wounded and initially taken to Rumford Hospital.

He was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment and is expected to survive.

Officer Broughton will be on paid administrative leave while the Maine Attorney General’s Office investigates, standard procedure following officer involved shootings in Maine.
