Police say one man has been arrested, and another hospitalized, following a shooting Monday morning.

According to our info partners at CBS 13 News, Auburn police say they received a call around 12:20 a.m. from a male and a female, reporting they had been robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of 730 Center Street. They told police they had fired a gun at the robbers.

When authorities arrived, they found a 19-year-old man lying on the ground, with a gunshot wound to the chest. 18-year-old William Beasley, of Auburn, was attempting to provide first aid.

Police say Beasley and a male accomplice approached the robbery victims and showed what appeared to be a revolver, but was later determined to be a BB gun, and demanded cash and cell phones.

The male robbery victim grabbed his own handgun and fired several shots, hitting Beasley’s accomplice.

Beasley has been charged with one count of Robbery Class B. His bail was set at $25,000.

The male who was shot is in critical condition at Central Maine Medical Center.

More charges are expected.
