Man killed by police during armed confrontation in northern Maine

Police in northern Maine fatally shot a man during an armed confrontation early Wednesday.

The Bangor Daily News writes that police responded to a 911 call around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday in Mars Hill. What followed was an armed confrontation outside of a home on Scovil Street.

28-year-old Jacob Wood was fatally shot by Aroostook County Deputy Sheriff Shawn Gillen. Wood died at the scene.

The Attorney General’s Office is investigating, which is standard procedure for all police-involved shootings.
