DIXFIELD, Maine (WGAN)  The State Fire Marshal’s Office says a Dixfield man seriously burned in a fire last week has died from his injuries.

78-year-old Richard Roberts was being treated at Maine Medical Center after suffering burns to over 45 percent of his body.

Fire Marshals say Roberts’ clothes caught fire while he was using a propane kitchen stove on Jan. 2.  Investigators say he was heating water on the stove when it happened.

Roberts passed away Monday night at Maine Medical Center.

Fire Marshals say this is the second fire death of the year.  The other death was a man inside his mobile home in Skowhegan, discovered on Saturday.  Electrical wiring is the likely cause in that fire.
