Man suffers frostbite, hypothermia in cold-weather crash in Maine

DYER BROOK, Maine (AP) Maine State Police say a man who crashed his car on Interstate 95 suffered from hypothermia and frostbite, in addition to crash injuries.

Police say Richard Matthews had to run a mile for help in subzero temperatures to get help after crashing early Saturday on I-95 in Dyer Brook.

He eventually reached an Oakfield restaurant, where someone dialed 911.

Police are reminding Mainers to keep extra warm winter clothes in their vehicles in case of situations like this.
