FARMINGTON, Maine (AP)   The state has dismissed charges against a woman who was accused of driving while intoxicated during a fatal crash last July in Kingfield.

Deputy District Attorney James Andrews told the Sun Journal that charges of manslaughter and drunken driving resulting in death have been dismissed “without prejudice.” The charges could be reinstated after further investigation.

Police say 31-year-old Danielle Larochelle of Kingfield was behind the wheel when her vehicle left the road and crashed into trees. She told police she was trying to avoid a deer.

One of her three passengers was ejected and died at the scene. Police say her blood-alcohol content was 0.22 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving.
