Marden’s has closed its Rumford location. The Marden family says this is the first store they’ve ever closed in nearly 60 years of business.

According to CBS 13, the family says the store was closed due to ongoing safety issues that haven’t been address by the store’s landlord.

All employees have been given the option to transfer to another Marden’s location.

Those who don’t want to transfer will be given a separation package.

According to their website, there are still 13 other Marden’s locations in Maine.
