A messy storm Monday night into Tuesday led to slick road conditions for the morning commute.

The National Weather Service office in Gray issued a winter weather advisory that was scheduled to expire at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The weather service urged drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling.

The mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain prompted the Maine Turnpike Authority to reduce the speed limit to 45 mph on the entire stretch of the turnpike.

Forecasters predicted that the wintry mix would end Tuesday afternoon, but they told drivers to watch for slick roads during the evening commute.

Forecasters expect another round snow Thursday night into Friday.
