SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Police in South Portland say a 14-year-old middle school student is charged with terrorizing for allegedly making threats against the school and other students.

Police say the Mahoney Middle School student was summonsed Wednesday morning. They were barred from returning to school while police investigated the threats, which were reported to police last Thursday.

The case will be referred to the Juvenile Community Corrections Office.

Police don’t believe any other students were involved with the threats, or that any students were in danger.

In a statement released Wednesday, South Portland Police Lieutenant Frank Clark said “I would like to highlight and commend the students who came forward and did the right thing by reporting their concerns.
We will continue to work closely with the South Portland School Department to help ensure the safety of our schools and all of our youth here in the city.”
