Missing Portland Teen Found Safe in NYC

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN)  A missing Portland teen has been found safe in New York City.

Portland police say Hilda Vanessa Sanaguaray-Upaya had been missing since Jan. 27 when she ran away from family members during an argument.

Police say the 14-year-old was found by detectives on Saturday Feb. 10 just after 5:30 p.m.  Police say her family used to live in the area of New York before moving to Portland.

Police say the public was crucial in finding Sanaguaray-Upaya, as their request for help finding her was spread over social media and led to crucial information to finding her.
