Man charged with kidnapping after missing Pownal teen is found safe

A 13-year-old missing Pownal girl is safe after being located in Portland, and a 23-year-old man faces charges in her disappearance from more than a week ago

Cumberland County deputies say an extensive investigation led them to an apartment at 470 Brighton Avenue, where they delivered a search warrant Tuesday and found the missing girl, Jadelynn Harlow, along with 23-year-old Elijah Coleman and 21-year-old Shelby Cookson.

Elijah Coleman was already wanted for probation revocation on domestic violence related charges and now faces several criminal charges in connection with the extended disappearance of Harlow.

Deputies say Coleman is charged with kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, Violation of a Protective Order, Criminal Restraint, Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Cookson was also interviewed as part of the ongoing case but has not been charged.

Deputies had previously asked for the public’s help in finding Harlow, who had been missing since Tuesday of last week.
