A crash on the Maine Turnpike Wednesday morning claimed the life of a Gorham woman who was reported missing on Tuesday, emergency officials say.

Troopers responded to a wreck involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV just after 2:30 a.m.

It happened at Mile 80 southbound in Lewiston.

The Maine Dept. of Public Safety says 78-year-old Jean Robinson was killed in the crash.

A Silver Alert was issued for Robinson yesterday by the Gorham Police Dept.

She suffered from cognitive impairment and her whereabouts prior to the crash were unknown.

Robinson had pulled her SUV over before the off-ramp at Exit 80.

When she turned back onto the road, troopers say she drove right into the path of a southbound tractor-trailer.

The vehicles collided and Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, 63-year-old David Alicea of Nashua, New Hampshire, was not hurt in the accident, which remains under investigation.
