CARIBOU, Maine (AP)   Maine’s moose hunters are back in the woods for another week of trying to bag the state’s biggest trophy animal.

The second of four moose hunt sessions begins on Monday and runs through Oct. 13. There’s another stretch from Oct. 22 to 27, and the longest session is from Oct. 29 to Nov. 24.

This week’s moose hunt is mostly limited to far northern Maine, where the moose population is dense.

The state’s allowing a bit more moose hunting this year than last.

The state’s deer and bear hunts are also taking place. Deer hunters are in the midst of the archery season, and the firearms season begins Oct. 29. The bear hunt runs to Nov. 24.
