More than 400 COVID-19 cases reported in Maine over 3-day period

Maine health officials on Tuesday reported another 451 cases of coronavirus over the prior 3-day period.

The Maine CDC also reported five additional deaths in Tuesday’s update.

The state continues to see low numbers of COVID hospitalizations, but they have been climbing slighty, with that number reaching 104 on Tuesday.

Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah says they’ve also seen a rise in COVID in wastewater testing, though testing metrics have improved over the past two weeks.

Dr. Shah indicated it’s too early to tell if the data point to another surge, saying the data points could be “signals or noise.”
