BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Maine State Police say the mother and step father of a 10-year-old girl who was found dead in Stockton Springs have been arrested and charged with murder.

Public safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 51-year-old Julio Carrillo and his wife, 33-year-old Sharon Carrillo, were taken into custody just after 5:00 P.M. Monday evening. Their daughter, 10-year-old Marrissa Kennedy, was found dead at the condominium where the family was staying after one of the parents had called for an ambulance around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

An autopsy determined the death to be a homicide.

The couple were taken to Waldo County Jail and are expected to appear in court on Tuesday or Wednesday.
