It has been a tumultuous season for the Mt. Ararat High School Boys Hockey team as their head coach resigns the same day it was announced their season was postponed after an “unsportsmanlike conduct” incident from players and adults on Saturday night.
Since January, the team has been in the middle of an investigation by school administrators for supposed player hazing.
The head coach, A.J. Kavanaugh had been on leave since then but in a Facebook post on Sunday, announced his resignation.
Later in the day, Heidi O’Leary, the superintendent of School Administrative District 75, said that the Mt. Ararat season is over thanks to multiple
reports of taunting and unsportsmanlike conduct during a game against Cheverus-Yarmouth, Saturday.
The hazing and game incidents are still under investigations.
