New Hampshire man charged with murder in Berwick shooting death

Police have arrested a New Hampshire man and charged him with murder for a shooting death in Berwick.

Police responded to a home on Katabel Lane in Berwick Thursday morning for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to the head.

37-year-old Mark Forest was found severely injured. He was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

The death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner on Friday morning.

Police identified 31-year-old Daniel Lafrenier of Rochester, New Hampshire as a person of interest in the case. Police found him allegedly trying to gain entry into a home in York. He was taken in for an interview and later charged with Forest’s murder.

Lafrenier was expected to make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon.

Police haven’t released details about a possible motive in the shooting.
