NEWMARKET, NH (WGAN)- A neighborhood in the town of Newmarket, New Hampshire, was locked down while police searched for a suspect in an alleged domestic assault. Geoffrey Snierson, 38, was accused of pistol whipping a woman he knew with a loaded gun at his home. The victim was hospitalized while police searched the neighborhood, surrounding Snierson’s residence. Dwellers of the normally quiet neighborhood were caught off guard with the intense police presence.

The “shelter-in-place” lasted for several hours, with police sending a robot into his home to search for him. What police did not realize, however, was that Snierson had fled the town on foot, likely on railroad tracks, before they arrived.

Durham, NH police were later able to locate Snierson, who was arrested on multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
