BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP)   Aviation buffs are going to have to wait a bit longer for the Great State of Maine Air Show.

The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority intends to wait until 2020 for its next air show. That’ll be three years after the most recent show featuring the Navy Blue Angels and other big-name acts.

Executive Director Steve Levesque tells the Times Record that he could’ve requested the Air Force Thunderbirds for a show in 2019 but wanted to wait for the Blue Angels.

The tradition of air shows in Bangor dates back 50 years.

Levesque said he’s holding out for the Blues because of the region’s ties to the Navy: Brunswick is a former Navy base and Navy shipbuilder Bath Iron Works is just a few miles up the road.
