New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu was hospitalized Friday for a bleeding ulcer, but a spokesperson says he’s improved after a transfusion.

The Republican governor was experiencing flu-like symptoms but tested negative for coronavirus three times this week.

He was admitted to Portsmouth Hospital on Friday. WMUR-TV reports that Sununu’s Chief of Staff Jayne Millerick said he had received a blood transfusion and was doing better.

She said that, as a blood donor himself, the governor is happy he paid it forward and grateful to all who do the same.
