No one hurt after weapon seized from 10-year-old at Waldo County elementary school

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says a 10-year-old student brought a gun to Monroe Elementary School Friday morning.

School staff and law enforcement officers acted quickly to detain the student and seize the weapon. No one was hurt.

The sheriff’s office and the ATF are investigating how the student got the gun and why they brought it to school.

The student was arrested and taken to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
