Central Maine Power was still working Monday to restore service after a major snow storm knocked out power to more than 230,000 customers.

The first major snow storm of the season brought heavy, wet snow and high winds to the area.

CMP Executive Chairman David Flanagan said on WGAN Monday morning that some customers may have to wait until Wednesday to get their power back.

The company keeps an updated list of power outages on its website.

He said more than 100 utility poles were broken during the storm.

The storm produced gusts of up to 40 mph.

Coastal areas saw less snow than inland parts of the state. Portland accumulated a little over 2 inches of snow, while a foot of snow came down in the Oxford County town of Newry, where the Sunday River resort is located.
