CALAIS, Maine (AP) Operators of a hospital in eastern Maine say the facility will remain open if members of a nurses union follow through on a plan to strike later this month.

The Maine State Nurses Association said Tuesday nearly 50 nurses and staff members at Calais Regional Hospital will strike from Nov. 18 to Nov. 20.

The hospital is at Maine’s eastern edge near the border with New Brunswick.

The union says its main concern is a lack of leadership. It also says a recent coronavirus outbreak at the hospital raised concerns because the hospital didn’t strictly enforce universal masking.
