Officials: Barn Collapses, Killing 1

KNOX, Maine (WGAN) The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office have released more details in the workplace death of a man who was killed when a barn collapsed on him Thursday morning.

Police were called to the scene on Belfast Road in Knox just before 9:30am. An old barn was being demolished when the roof collapsed, trapping 55-year-old William Viles of Belfast. He was removed from the debris but first responders were unable to revive him.

Two other workers were injured, with one being taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called to the scene to investigate, which is standard for all workplace deaths.
