Investigators say teens shot at explosive material placed inside of a car in Readfield, causing an explosion.

Fire investigators say the explosion happened on Main Street late last month, where Tannerite was found inside the vehicle.

The district attorney’s office and Maine Fire Marshals will determine whether any charges will be filed.

Fire marshals say up to five pounds of Tannerite can be used for sport or target shooting only under state law.
