One Dead in Caribou House Fire

Fatal house fire in Caribou - State Fire Marshall's Office


The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire late Saturday night in Caribou.

Firefighters were called to 32 Hillcrest Avenue at about 10:30 pm, where they found a dead body inside.

The remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for identification and further examination.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says the dead person is believed to be 49-year-old Tony Jackson.

Positive identification will be confirmed by the Medical Examiner. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
