One Dead in Skowhegan House Fire

Skowhegan fatal fire - Maine Fire Marshal's Office


One person is dead from a fire that heavily damage a home in Skowhegan last evening.

Skowhegan firefighters say they were called to the scene on Waye Street just after 5 pm on a report of someone trapped inside.

They say they attempted a rescue but were met with heavy fire conditions, and later located a dead person inside the residence.

The body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for identification.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
