One person has minor injuries and a graveyard as heavy damage after a car crashed into it in the Midcoast town of Warren.

The Blake Cemetery sexton say a car did not navigate a turn on Ridge Road, left the road, and drove through the graveyard at a high rate of speed.

The car reportedly hit a rock wall, and damaged 18 headstones and footstones, with one landing more than 100 feet away.

The cemetery is a state designated ancient burial ground and contains graves of veterans from the Revolutionary War and Civil War.

The driver of the car has not been identified, and it’s not known if any charges will be filed.

The cemetery sexton says the town has agreed to cover the costs for repairs, while the costs is not currently known.

The crash took place at about 4 am Friday
